I am absolutely delighted to welcome you to the new and improved MiracleReflections.com! My husband gifted me with the domain name so I could transfer from WordPress.com to my own domain. I’ve spent the last few days tinkering with the HTML code and fixing it up (I love PicMonkey!) and I’m excited to debut the site!
I’ve got lots of ideas, recipes, tips, reviews, and anecdotes to share, so please be sure to bookmark the site and/or subscribe to the RSS feed — you can even get updates delivered straight to your email via the subscription box on the lower right-hand side of the sidebar. You can also connect on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram.
As if my husband and I weren’t dissatisfied enough with Capital One — this morning I saw their new commercial that made me even more glad we switched banks recently. Granted, this commercial is for their Quicksilver credit card — we go by Dave Ramsey’s debt-free Financial Peace plan, so we rarely use credit cards.
The commercial features Samuel L. Jackson, and ends with the following statement:
“Unlimited 1.5% cash-back on every purchase, everywhere, every damn day.”
I know “damn” isn’t considered a majorly terrible swear word, but my toddler and I were catching the weather this morning via “Good Morning America” and this commercial aired.
I’m not a prude — there’s a time and place, and the early morning time slot is not that place. Sure, we hear words stronger than that sprinkled throughout prime time television, but again, that’s prime time, not early morning. Plus, it just feels too contrived in a commercial like this — not very professional.
At least I know who to blame if my toddler comes out with the phrase “every damn day.” Thanks a lot, Capital One.
Save a commercial like this for after the kiddos have gone to bed. (more…)
