I recently had the opportunity to try Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil courtesy BzzAgent. My family are avid fans of EVOO; we use it in cooking on a regular basis, so we were excited to try this brand since we usually tend to go for whatever’s on sale.
Let me tell you, there is a definite difference in taste. This stuff is excellent! It was a light, delicate flavor, not overly heavy or oily. It doesn’t overpower the meal, but rather complements anything you use it in.
We immediately tried it in our favorite dish, Spaghetti Aglio, Olio, e Peperoncino (translated spaghetti with garlic, oil, and chili pepper flakes). Let me tell you — we were not disappointed in the least! In fact, I might go so far as to say we’re Filippo Berio converts. 😉
It’s a traditional Italian pasta dish, and it’s SO simple and delicious! I do it all to taste, but here’s a basic starter recipe:
- 7 oz. spaghetti
- 2-4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of chili pepper flakes
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup of extra-virgin olive oil
- 3/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
We also make a side dish of spinach with bread crumbs, garlic powder, and EVOO, and Filippo Berio was delectable in that as well!
In short, I have been converted from the cheapo sale EVOO. Suffice to say, our bottle is nearly empty. Will be be buying more of Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil? You bet! Thank you, BzzAgent!
